BIOGRAPHY
Wendy is an emerging artist who infuses her vibrant abstract creations with deep joy, bright energy, and gratitude. Based in the East Anglian region of the United Kingdom, Wendy rediscovered her love of art in mid-2024. Wendy takes inspiration from her rural surroundings, childhood memories of living by the sea and deeply individual experiences.
Though Wendy studied GCSE art in school, she took a 30-year detour into the insurance industry, earning a maths degree and completing the actuarial exams. It was following a challenging time with menopause issues that she rekindled her love for painting, using it to bring joy into her life.
Since mid-2024, Wendy has participated in 11 gallery exhibitions, with 3 more scheduled for 2025, including a solo show at Holmfirth Tech in August.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My art is an expression of vibrant joy, texture, and movement, designed to evoke an emotional response in the viewer and capture my bright energy. Working primarily with acrylics, I explore the interplay of colour, texture, and light, drawing inspiration from nature and my own memories.
Resolving my menopause issues with HRT gave me such a burst of energy I felt compelled to begin a second career as an artist.
For 30 years, my subconscious filed art ideas in a ‘room’ inside my head. Previously unaware of the room's existence, shockingly I found inside a fully formed artistic style and voice. It looks like an old fashioned wooden brown chest from the outside.
