The act of painting these flowers brought me light and joy in the long dark days. I gained so much joy from thinking about spring during this meditative exercise.
Afloat on Soft Currents, is vibrant, textured, and full of life. It features bright pink water lilies blooming across a richly layered, deep blue surface. The water is animated with swirling strokes of turquoise, cobalt, and hints of white, creating a sense of gentle movement like ripples stirred by a breeze or slow current. The lilies sit on luminous green lily pads that glow with touches of yellow, giving them a radiant, almost dreamlike quality.
The painting captures that magical mix of calm and quiet motion you find on water at rest, and there’s a deep joy in the bold colour and confident form.
